Quepos Fishing Report-Saturday September 11,2010

Quepos Fishing Report-Saturday September 11,2010

Today we headed out of Quepos looking for the Tuna Schools. We ran out about 23 miles and started fishing. Within 20 minutes we had a strike and hook up on the Shotgun. It was a small Yellowfin. We were all pretty excited to have some fresh Sashimi. We ended up getting 2 more Yellowfins that were bigger. One of the Clients wasn't feeling too well and wanted to head in so we called it a day. A good day of fishing for sure. Here are a few photos.
Here's Jud from Atlanta with a little Yellowfin

Mate Mario and Jud show off 2 nice Yellowfins!!

Quepos Fishing Report- Saturday September 4, 2010

We fished the 26 again yesterday. It was slow going but we stuck it out and came away with a Sail and a nice Wahoo. Our Clients were happy because they hadn't ever caught a Sail or Wahoo before! Glad to hook them up on their first of each! Here's Bill and Cindy from Florida with their fish. Great work guys. Thanks for fishing with us!

Bill with his first Sailfish!

and here's Cindy with a nice Wahoo.

Hopefully we'll get out there soon and get some more. As you can see, the fishing is still great here in Costa Rica, even in the "off" season.

Book your Charters now as the Season is going to be here before we know it.

Thanks for reading and tight lines!

Quepos Fishing Report-Tuesday August 31,2010

Quepos Fishing Report- Tuesday August 31, 2010

Today we fished the Venti Seis Rock again. I was kind of worried as we ran out due to the amount of green and brown water from the recent rains but once we got about 5 miles from the rock it started to clear up. Within 10 minutes of having our lines in the water I saw a Sailfish come up on the left short rigger. He immediately switched to the right short rigger and we hooked him up right away. While all of this was going on we got a Wahoo hooked up too! After about 5 min the line that we had the Sail on went slack.... bummer. When we retrieved the line we could see that a Wahoo had gone for the swivel and cut the leader about 2 inches behind it. Neill was bummed on losing the Sail but came back strong landing a nice Amberjack. We also got a small Dorado, a Rainbow Runner, a Yellowfin and a few Bonitos for bait. When the tide went out the green water moved out with it and once it got around the Rock we stopped getting any action and decided to pick up the lines and run back to Quepos. Wish we had been able to get there a little earlier.  Here are a few Photos.

Here's Jud with his Wahoo.

Mate Mario with Neill's Amberjack. Neill could barely lift it!

Quepos Fishing Report -Monday July 12, 2010

Quepos Fishing Report- Monday July 12, 2010-

Here's how I want the Manta....... Hopefully in the next few months while the fishing is slow and the weather isn't so good, I can make some changes. I really like the open feel and space. I'm also thinking of removing the lower helm station.

We haven't been fishing so I don't really have a report. I do know that some boats are getting a few Sails and that there has been a good Marlin bite out there. One of the boats out of Quepos got a 400+ lb Blue Marlin last Thursday. Hope to get out there soon!

Thanks for reading!

Quepos Fishing Report- July 10, 2010

Today we did some inshore fishing. Here is Beth with a nice little Spanish Mackerel. We got 5 more like this and a few Jacks. All in about 45 minutes! There were some nice schools of Sardines around Quepos so we took advantage and trolled around them. The small red and black Drone spoon on a planer was really working well for the Spanish.

Meanwhile offshore my buddy Capt. Dave Dobbins on the Barbarosa got a 400+ lb Marlin on Thursday. Nice work guys!

Quepos Fishing Report- Saturday July 3, 2010-

Here's our new flyer.

We should have a trip coming up next week. I have heard some good reports from Quepos in the last few days. I heard some boats got some Sailfish yesterday. Sure would like to get out there and get a couple of those. I think there are still good numbers of Wahoo and Tuna around the 26 Rock. I will post a report as soon as we fish.

Thanks for reading and Suerte!

Quepos Fishing Report- Saturday June 26, 2010

NEWS FLASH!

La Manta Sportfishing is now located in the new Marina Pez-Vela in Quepos! We are really excited to be one of the first 5 boats into the new Marina. We hope that this change will provide our clients with better service and convenience. No more Panga rides out to the mooring to get the boat. Also no more tying up at the pier to get water or fuel.... well, maybe fuel, for just a bit longer. The Marina has a nice store that sells most anything that you need from Drinks/Snacks, Bait, Lures, Rigging Supplies, Cleaning Supplies and much more.

We have a few trips coming up so stay tuned for more fishing reports.

Thanks for reading and Suerte!
