Quepos Costa Rica Fishing Report- Thursday February 17, 2010

Quepos Costa Rica Fishing Report- Thursday February 17, 2010

Captain Rick Saloom with a big Pacific Sailfish
and here's a little Wahoo that will make for some good eating!

Today we fished with my buddy Captain Rick from Jersey. We started the day with a good Sail bite at 9:30am but unfortunately, we missed that fish. We kept working at it and ended up hooking into a nice 200-300 pound Marlin. Again luck was not on our side and the line broke just seconds after we were hooked up. We just kept  working at it and eventually got the Sail that you see in the Photo above. It was a nice big one. We were hoping for another shot at a Marlin or another Sail but then we got a strike that I knew was a Wahoo. If you have ever caught a Wahoo, you know how they hit. Hard and Fast on the first run. Sure enough when we got it to the boat, it's a Wahoo. Arturo gaffed him first try and we had some Dinner in the boat! Not a great day but sure not a bad one either! Captain Rick was Stoked and I was happy to be fishing with him. Always great to have Friends on the boat!

We're back out there soon so stay tuned for more updates!

Quepos Costa Rica Fishing Report- Tuesday January 17, 2010

Today we went out to try to catch some Mackerel for Marlin baits. Here's a few photos. Enjoy!

Here's a nice Jack!
Marco Cleaning some Mackerels and prepping them to be Marlin bait!
A Mackerel for dinner that was to big to use for a bait.
 A nice bait.
And a view of the Naranjo Rocks.

We are fishing this week so hopefully we will have a chance to catch some Marlin with the baits we got today! As you can see in the photos, the weather is beautiful right now and the fishing is great! We got all of these Mackerel in about an hour of trolling right near the Naranjo River Mouth. If this had been a Inshore Trip, I'm sure the Clients would have been Stoked! There are a lot of Sardines around right now so the Inshore Fishing is really good. Contact us today to book your Charter!
